DESERT MOON, 2022

Stoneware, ash and glaze, Cone 10 reduction fired. 17.5″L x 17.5″W x 17.5″H (average measurements of set). Santa Fe, NM. 2021.

Made in response to a post-graduate move to the desert of New Mexico, where I was struck by the vastness, scale, and palate of the land. These silent, strong, and vulnerable pots are enhanced with ash from local trees, burned by members of the New Mexico Community. After firing, I laboriously carried each moon jar into the desert of Abiquiu, NM, where they looked on as silent witnesses to their storied and unforgiving environment. Photo taken in Abiquiu, NM, overlooking Ghost Ranch. Made while a one-year Artist-in-Residence at Green River Pottery, in Santa Fe, NM.
